The Mourning Crown | Gothic Skull Brooch

A dark little relic for those who prefer their jewellery with a little more death.

The Mourning Crown features a sinister skull wearing an ornate crown, framed within an elaborate baroque-inspired design. The deep black finish and hand-applied silver detailing give it the appearance of an old mourning relic — something beautiful, macabre and slightly unsettling.

Inspired by the ornate forms of Victorian mourning jewellery and antique memorial brooches, this piece takes that traditional aesthetic and gives it a distinctly darker twist.

Each brooch is designed, resin printed and hand painted by Dead Quiet Studio. The raised details are carefully dry-brushed with silver to bring out the intricate frame and crowned skull while keeping the overall piece dark and dramatic.
